President
Michelle Williams
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Science degree in curriculum, instruction and technology. She is certified to teach grades 1-8 in both Texas and Louisiana. She is also licensed to lead schools, though the classroom is where her heart remains. While she has taught language arts, social studies, science and math, her specialty is closing math learning gaps and working with below grade level learners.
Throughout her career, Michelle has served in a variety of capacities. She has propelled students to new heights as a classroom teacher and has mentored new educators as a lead teacher and TAP mentor teacher and TAP master teacher. She’s also spearheaded the direction of instructional strategies at her schools as an instructional coach and department chair.
Vice-President
Nelva Williamson
Nelva Williamson is a forty-four-year veteran teacher in the Houston Independent School
District. She has taught grades 6-12 in social studies and history and has also been a
coordinator for special programs at her previous campus.
Currently she is teaching at Young
Women’s College Preparatory Academy, a single gender all girls’ STEM magnet school in the
historic neighborhood of Third Ward. She is currently teaching Advanced Placement African
American Studies (pilot years 1, 2, and operational), Advanced Placement World History, and
Advanced Placement United States History. Mrs. Williamson earned her undergraduate degree
from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1978.
Her degree is in Education Curriculum
and Instruction (EDCI) with a concentration in History and Theater Arts. She is a certified
teacher with lifetime credentials in both Texas and Massachusetts.
